Questions & Answers
Straight answers from the Squad on the Two-Step.
What is the Googan Squad Two-Step?
The Two-Step is a topwater walking bait that walks and dances across the surface to trigger explosive strikes. A single BB inside creates a loud knocking sound that calls fish from a distance, and it has three sticky-sharp treble hooks. Several colors have a contrasting top fin that works as a tracer, so you can see the bait in low light and on long casts. It's 4 1/2" and 5/8 oz with #3 hooks. Each pack includes one bait.
How do you walk the dog with a topwater bait?
Point your rod tip down and make short, rhythmic twitches while reeling up the slack. Each twitch makes the bait glide to one side, then the other, in a zig-zag "walk the dog" action. Keep slack in the line between twitches, and when a fish strikes, wait until you feel it before setting the hook.
What does the tracer fin on the Two-Step do?
On several colors, the top fin is a contrasting color that acts as a tracer. It helps you see the bait in low light and on long casts, so you can keep a steady walking rhythm and see exactly where your bait is when a fish strikes.
What are the best Two-Step colors?
Bone is a proven topwater color in almost any condition. Shad colors like Native Shad, Sexy Shad, Silver Flash, Shotgun Shad, Olive Shad and Ghost Shad imitate baitfish, along with Ayu and Ghost Gill. Nightclub gives a dark silhouette in low light. Reserve Chrome is a limited-edition color with extra flash.
When and where does the Two-Step work best?
Walking baits shine in the spring, summer and fall, especially in low light at dawn, dusk and on cloudy days. Fish the Two-Step in the shallows, over grass, near brush and in open water where bass are chasing baitfish.
How fast will my order ship?
Orders typically ship within 1–3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays), mainly via USPS, and you'll get a tracking email as soon as yours is on the way. U.S. orders over $99 ship free, and returns are free within 45 days.
