Questions & Answers
Straight answers from the Squad on the Lunker Log.
What is the Googan Baits Lunker Log?
The Lunker Log is Googan Baits' take on the classic soft plastic stick bait. It sinks with a subtle side-to-side shimmy that looks like a dying worm or struggling baitfish, and its ringed body pushes extra water to draw strikes. It's injected with salt and infused with Slaunch Sauce scent so bass hold on longer, and it comes in 4", 5" and 6" sizes for everything from small ponds to big lakes.
How do you wacky rig a Lunker Log?
To wacky rig the Lunker Log, run a wacky hook through the middle of the bait so both ends hang free, then cast it weightless and let it fall on slack line. Both ends shimmy on the way down, which is when most bites happen. The Lunker Log also works great Texas rigged, on a Carolina rig, and on a shaky head when you need to fish it deeper or through cover.
Which Lunker Log size should I buy?
The 4" Lunker Log (9 per pack) is the finesse choice for ponds, clear water and pressured fish. The 5" (8 per pack) is the all-around size for most lakes. The 6" (6 per pack) has a bigger profile and faster fall for targeting bigger bass. Every pack comes in a molded clamshell so the baits stay straight.
When and where does the Lunker Log work best?
The Lunker Log is a year-round bait. Skip it under docks, let it fall along grass lines and wood, work it around rocks and creek channels, or drop it near spawning beds in the spring. Its slow, natural fall makes it especially good when the bite is tough and bass won't chase faster baits.
What are the best Lunker Log colors?
In clear water, natural colors like Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Red Flake and Baby Bass look the most realistic. In stained water, try California Craw, Cinnamon or Sprayed Lettuce. In muddy water or low light, darker colors like Black Blue Flake, Black Red Flake and Junebug give bass a stronger silhouette. Brighter options like Chartreuse Pepper w/ Green Fleck help in dirty water too.
Is the Lunker Log salt-injected and scented?
Yes. Every Lunker Log is injected with salt, which gives it an ideal sink rate and helps bass hold on longer, and it's infused with Googan Baits' signature Slaunch Sauce scent for an added edge on picky fish.
