Questions & Answers
Straight answers from the Squad on the Hummer.
What is the Googan Squad Hummer?
The Hummer is a buzzbait built for loud surface commotion and explosive topwater strikes. Its free-spinning propeller blade has slotted holes that churn the water and create a loud buzzing sound that calls in bass from a distance. It has a hand-tied rubber skirt, an ultra-sharp Mustad hook, the weight painted on the head, and a rubber band line keeper. Each pack includes one buzzbait.
How do you fish a buzzbait?
Start reeling as soon as the buzzbait hits the water so it stays on the surface, then keep a steady retrieve fast enough to keep the blade churning. Run it along grass lines, past wood and brush, and through the shallows. You can also burn it for a reaction bite. When a bass blows up on it, wait until you feel the weight before setting the hook.
What weight Hummer buzzbait should I use?
The Hummer comes in 3/8 oz with a 4/0 Mustad hook and 1/2 oz with a 5/0 Mustad hook. The 3/8 oz is easier to keep on top at slower speeds, while the 1/2 oz casts farther, handles wind better and pairs well with bigger fish.
What are the best Hummer colors?
White is a top choice on sunny days and around baitfish. Black Blue Flake gives a strong silhouette against the sky in low light and at night. Bluegill is a great pick around bluegill beds and shallow grass.
When is the best time to throw a buzzbait?
Buzzbaits shine in the summer and fall, and in the spring once the water warms, especially in low light at dawn, dusk and on cloudy days. Fish the Hummer over shallow grass, along wood and brush, and anywhere bass are holding shallow.
How fast will my order ship?
Orders typically ship within 1–3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays), mainly via USPS, and you'll get a tracking email as soon as yours is on the way. U.S. orders over $99 ship free, and returns are free within 45 days.
