It mimics a fleeing frog or wounded baitfish and creates the kind of commotion that draws bass from a distance. It rigs weedless for pads, grass and heavy cover, and it's infused with Slaunch Sauce scent.
How do you rig the Explode Toad?
Rig it weightless and weedless on a wide gap or swimbait-style hook, such as Googan's Dart N' Toad Hook, with the point skin-hooked back into the body so it comes through pads and grass without snagging. Make sure it's rigged straight so it runs true on the surface.
How do you fish a buzz toad?
Start reeling as soon as it lands and keep a steady retrieve fast enough to keep it on top, so the legs churn and spit water like a buzzbait. Run it over lily pads, across sparse grass and along shorelines, and skip it under docks and overhanging cover. When a fish blows up, wait until you feel it before setting the hook.
