The Googan Squad Jr. Scout is a small, hard-bodied jerkbait for bass designed for finesse fishing in cool, clean water. Its streamlined profile and lifelike integrated lateral line perfectly mimic a small baitfish, making it an ideal choice for targeting pressured fish in creeks, rivers, ponds, and lakes.
When ripped, the Jr. Scout slashes and dances erratically, imitating a wounded or dying baitfish and triggering strikes from even the most finicky bass. Its internal rattle system provides a subtle fish-calling sound, while its sticky-sharp black nickel hooks ensure a solid hookset. Questions & Answers
Straight answers from the Squad on the Jr. Scout.
What is the Googan Squad Jr. Scout?
The Jr. Scout is a small, hard-bodied jerkbait built for finesse fishing in cool, clean water. When ripped, it slashes and dances like a wounded baitfish, and an internal rattle adds subtle sound. It's 3 1/2" and 3/8 oz, dives 3-5 ft, and has sticky-sharp #6 black nickel hooks. Each pack includes one bait.
How do you fish a jerkbait?
Cast it out and reel a few turns to bring it down to depth. Then snap the rod tip down two or three times on slack line so the jerkbait darts side to side, and pause. Bass usually hit on the pause, so lengthen the pauses in cold water (up to several seconds) and shorten them when fish are active.
What's the difference between the Scout and the Jr. Scout?
The Scout is 4 1/3" and 1/2 oz, dives 4-6 ft and suspends, making it the go-to jerkbait for lakes and bigger bass. The Jr. Scout is 3 1/2" and 3/8 oz, dives 3-5 ft, and has a smaller profile for pressured fish, creeks, rivers and ponds. Both have a rattle and sticky-sharp black nickel hooks.
What are the best Jr. Scout colors?
Natural baitfish colors like Native Shad, Sexy Shad, Ayu and Silver Flash are top choices in clear water. Ghost Gill and Pearl Bone are subtle options for pressured fish, and Yellow Perch matches perch in creeks and lakes. Pro Blue and Elegy Bone add flash in lightly stained water.
When and where does the Jr. Scout work best?
The Jr. Scout shines in cold, clear water and in the pre-spawn, especially for pressured fish that ignore bigger baits. Its smaller size makes it a great choice in creeks, rivers and ponds, and around rocks and wood.
