The Googan Squad Booger, a unique, compact soft plastic designed to create a whole lot of action in a small package. Inspired by the popular Urchin-style bait, the Booger features a rounded center surrounded by 20 flexible tentacles that bring a completely different look and presentation to the water.

Constructed from durable elastomer material, the Booger's tentacles are designed to move, flex, and react to subtle movements in the water. Whether you're giving it a slight twitch, slowly working it through the water, or letting it fall naturally, those 20 tentacles create an unpredictable presentation that can entice even the most stubborn bass. The Booger's compact, spherical design gives anglers a unique finesse option when traditional soft plastics aren't getting the job done. Its combination of a small profile and multiple moving appendages creates an attention-grabbing presentation without requiring aggressive rod movements. Sometimes, less is more, and the Booger lets its tentacles do the talking.

Available in two inner sphere sizes, 20mm and 24mm.

Questions & Answers

Straight answers from the Squad on the Booger.

What is the Googan Baits Booger?

The Booger is Googan Baits' take on the Coike-style urchin bait. It's a compact finesse bait with a rounded center sphere and 20 flexible tentacles that flex, quiver and react to the slightest movement, so it looks alive even when you barely move your rod. It's made from durable elastomer and comes in two inner sphere sizes, 20mm and 24mm, with one bait per pack.

What is an urchin bait?

An urchin bait, also called a Coike-style or spiky ball bait, is a soft bait with a round center and tentacles sticking out in every direction. The style was made famous by the Japanese Coike and quickly became one of the hottest finesse baits in bass fishing. Bass react to the constant tentacle movement, which can look like a small creature, a crawfish or a tight ball of baitfish. The Booger delivers that look with 20 tentacles in two sizes.

How do you rig the Booger?

Urchin baits don't Texas rig like a regular soft plastic, so most anglers fish them on a drop shot, on a Neko-style setup with a small nail weight, on a weighted wacky or Neko hook, or on a light jig head. Many anglers run a small treble hook through the center sphere, which holds the bait securely and hooks fish well since bass tend to inhale it. You can also fish it weightless for a slow, natural fall. Add just enough weight to reach the depth you want.

How do you fish an urchin bait like the Booger?

Less is more. Let the Booger fall on slack line, then give it light shakes or short twitches and pause. The tentacles pull in when the bait moves and flare back out when it stops, which is when many bites happen. On a drop shot, shake it in place over fish you see on your electronics. When bass are following it, keep a steady cadence instead of letting it drop away from them.

Should I get the 20mm or the 24mm Booger?

The sizes refer to the inner sphere. The 20mm is the more compact finesse option for clear water, pressured bass and lighter line. The 24mm has a bigger profile and pushes more water, so it's a good pick for bigger fish, deeper water, wind or stained water. Many anglers carry both and size down when the bite gets tough.

What are the best Booger colors?

In clear water, natural colors like Watermelon Blue, Smoke Purple, Shad and Scuppernong look the most lifelike. In stained water, Earthworm and Plum stand out without looking unnatural. In muddy water or low light, Black gives bass the strongest silhouette, and Hot Mustard is a bright option when you want the bait to be seen.

When and where does the Booger work best?

The Booger is a year-round finesse bait that shines when the bite is tough, after cold fronts and on heavily pressured lakes. It's especially good around spawning beds and fry-guarding bass in the spring, and around docks, rocks, grass edges and ledges. Offshore, it works well for suspended bass you can see on forward-facing sonar.

How many Boogers come in a pack, and how long do they last?

Each pack includes one Booger. It's made from elastomer, a stretchy material that's much tougher than standard soft plastic, so a single bait can hold up to fish after fish where other baits would tear.
